Batman met Hal Jordan while chasing a Parademon in Gotham City. The encounter led to a clash with Darkseid and the formation of the Justice League. During the crisis Batman reminded Hal of his mortality by revealing his own identity as Bruce Wayne.
Batman discovered the Court of Owls, a secret society dating back to the time of Gotham's founding and his ancestor Alan Wayne. He battled the Talons, the agents of the Court of Owls. He discovered Thomas Wayne Jr. as the head Talon of the Court of Owls in Gotham.
